The Government meteoro'Jogist issued 'the following weather report and foreqast fast night: — General Situation: An irregular depression crossed the Dominion last night, its centres being now located east of the East Cape and the Chatham IsIands respectively. An anticyclone is situated over New South Wales. Forecast: Winds, south-wester-ly of strong to gale force decreas•ing to-morrow. Weather: Cold, changeable and squally; some heavy showers at times in most districts; hail in places and snow in parts of the South Island and on the ranges; frosts inland. Following are the barometer, maximum and mi'nimum thermometer,"*and rainfall readlngs reoorded at the Government Observation Station by the Rotorua Tourist Department, for the 24 hours ended at 9.30 a.m. yesterday: — Barometer 29.571 ins. Thermometer' (max.) 54.1deg. Thermometer (mfn. on grass) 40.3deg. Rainfall .... 0.45ins.
