REDUCTION OF TELEPHONE RENTALS TO BE SOUGHT MEETING OF ASSOCIATION The monthly meeting of the executive of the Rotorua Retail Traders' Association was held in the Dolly Varden Tearooms on Thursday night, when several matters of importance to the traders of Rotorua had been dealt with. A member pointed out that owing to the serious depression in trade many telephone subscribers were finding it increasingly hard to pay the high rental charged. Some had already decided to have it cut off, and others were seriously thinking* of doing the same. After discussion it was decided to approaeh the various local bodies with a view to getting their support to a request to the Government for a reduction of not less than 20 per eent. in the telephone rentals. The matter of making a further request for a reduction in the charges for electric current was left over until the .next meeting .
