HAMILTON, Friday^ Before a large crowd at Rugby Park to-day Auckland' Rugby representatives defeated Waikato by 28 to 18. ^ ' Waikato hacf the better of the play and were unlucky not'to heat their opponents Auckland"" scored two tries, one heing- converted, within the last few mmutes. The home fqrwards were superior to the visiting band, an4 held thp upper haud throughout. The visiting backs were faster and njppier, but did not have as much pf the hall as the Waikato rearguard. Waikato scpred first, Cook intercepting a pass, and after a strpng rpn sent Carlson over. Auckland e.qualised immediately afterwards, when Heazlewood kicked a penalty gpal. Wilson, on the wing, placed Waikato ahead with a try near the posts. Denz then scored for Waikato frqm a five-yard scrum, the- kick heing disallowed. This was the position at half -time. On resuming, Newdielc scored under the posts for Auckland, Heazlewood converting. After McGormack had scored another unconverted try for Waikato, Cornthwait then cut in, scoring an unconverted try, placing Auckland one point behind. Wilson and Cameron scored tries for Waikato. When time was short, Auckland pressed and Stewart scored "or Heazlewood to convert. Just on time Stone scored and Heazlewood converted, and immediately afterward Godwin scored an unconverted try.
