PHANTOM OF PARIS
COMING TO DE LUXE THEATRE John Gilbert and Leila. Hy.ams .appear together in "The Phantom, of Paris" showing at the De Luxe. Theatre to-morrow and Monday, John- Gilbert who will be remembered in "The Big Parade," "Way for a Sailor''; and "Gentlemen's Fate" made his first appearance on the stage at the age of one year old, although it was a good many years later that he first appeared in the pictures. Leila Hyams, who has appeared. in three pictures as leading lady. for John Gilbert, went on the vaudeville stage when she was quite young. . In preparation for "The Phantom of Paris" John Gilbert had to study hard under a first-class eonjurer and learn to extricate himself from a straightjacket and leg-irons while in a tank of water; from handcuffs, and also from from a Paris prison. The conjuring tricks and escapes should interest the men, while for the ladies, there are some of the latest styles in gowns and wraps. It took Miss Hyams 25 minutes to change into one of them with the assistance of three maids.
