The final of thq, Second Handicap Pairs between Wood and Merriman (handicap 3) and Polgilase and Budd (scr.) was an interesting game, and provided a fitting conclusion to the season's competition play. Merriman led off with three singles, followed by a two on the fourth, with a single on the fifth, Budd lay two on the sixth and seventh. At the 10th Merriman was 12 to 0. Budd did not score again until the 15th, when he notched a four to leave the tally 10 — 22 in Berriman's favour. At the 18th, the score was .25 — 12 in Merriman's favour, but Budd got a four on the 19th, leaving 9 to tio and two heads to go. On the 20th, Merriman got * two, making the score 27 — 16 in his favour. There was some good bowling on both sides. Wood played an outstanding game, and his drawing at times waa perfect. Wood is probably the most improved player in the club this season, and in this game overshadowed Polglase. This left Budd some leeway to make- up, while Merriman, as usual, played a steady and very consistent ganie.
