OTAKI PROSPECTS Although rather overshadowed by the Great Northern lixture, thfe Otaki meeting opening to-day will hold some interest. The going at the southern course will he very heavy. Fields all round are good, and with retient foi"m to follow, backers ought to be close to the mark in all seven events scheduled for to-day. A few horses that appear to stand out in their engagernents today are Ida Merling, Pahu, Gold Dawn, Davistock and Equitant.
