STRUCK BY MOTOR-CAR WHEN ALIGHTING FROM OWN VEHICLE
ACCIDENT IN OPOTIKI

OPOTIKI, Thursday. Mr. W. Brown, of Paerata Ridge was knocked down and rendered unconscious by a motor car in Church Street shortly after five o'clock this evening. II e was stepping out of his car to go into a shop when he was struck by a light car driven by Mr. Clem Black, of Otara. Mrs. Brown was in her ' husband's car and saw the accident. Mr. Brown was picked up and carried into a nearby house where he recovered coilsciousness and rallied sufficiently to be conveyed to J. D. Clark's pharmacy, where first aid was rendered. He was then able to v/alk to Glover's garage. Here he collapsed and Dr. Candy was selit for. On examination Mr. Brown was found to have sustained a sprained ankle, a damaged knee cap, a bruised leg, and a badly bruised arm, cuts about the eyes and face and slight concussion. He was also suffering from severe shock. It is expected he will he confined to bed for at least a week.
