INVARCARGILL, hursday An inquiry has been received from England by the sawmillers of Southland for 9,000,000 of Southland beech to he used in the manufacture of motor bodies. On behalf of the sawmillers, the following statement Was made by Mr. Wesney : "An inquiry has been received from England for a vefy large quantity of silver beech for inotor body works. It is estimated that if the business is forthcomihg, work will be provided for 300 men on full time for 18 months. This wofild embrace all flie Workers of the district. "If the order eventuates it will create a boom in indUstry and besides providing labour for the men themselves ahd assisting the railways, it will proVide wbrk at the Bluff, and indirectly Several trades would profit directly several trades would benefit. It is uhderstood negotiations are cohtinuing.
