NEW DANCE
THE 1932 TILT. A new and spirited dance with steps which go best to syncopated pblka time but which can he adapted to any foxtrot, has been launched by on'e of England's ballroom dancing experts (states a correspoiident)'. It is called the "1932 Tilt," and, consisting of three shott stfeps; slip, and a quick
click of the heels, is danced with hands held low, elbows out, and a j sideward tilt of the body, from which its name is' derived. It was demoxi- ; strated and.explained by its inventor, ! who said: — "Ballroom dancing needed brightening up, as it does from time j to time. I concentrated on that. most English of dances, the polka; changed its 'one, two, three, h'op,' to fone, two; three, slip'; introduced a click of the heels at the end of the slip; had the pianist syncopate the old-fashiorted tunes — and there it was. The hands, held at ah angle with the hip iilstead of with the shoulder; give a slightly tilted effect, and all°w more room for movement on a croWded floor. llt is yery simple, and the steps lit to any tune." It is gay; it is simple; it is livelier than the ordin&ry ballroom dancing.
