AMATEUR ATHLETICS
With the intention of catering for amateur athletics at their sports meeting to-morrow and Saturday, the Rotorua Athletic and Axenien's Club have been granted a permit by the New. Zealand Amateur Athletic Association to include amateur tract and cycling events in their carniva' programme. The track events decided upon are over distances of 100, 220 and 440 yards, • half-mile, one mile and two-mile cycle events also being included. VaJjjable trophies, as advertised in another column °i this isstle, have been allotted, and ^ is expected that many entries wi» b© received from local amatevrt athletes. Entries for the tract events will close with the secretary (Mr. E. C. Sherman) on the ground at 1 p.m. on Friday, but cyclists should note that entries for their events close at 5 p.m. to-day, and may be left addressed to the secretary at the "Morning Post" Office...
