THE WEATHER
The Government meteorofogist issued the following weather report and forecast last night: — General Situation: An a'nticyclone is still covering New Zealand, but with greatly reduced intensity; barometers are low to the north and south of the Dominion, and a deep depression is" moving slowly to eastern Australia. Forecast: Winds fresh to strong easterlies to 'northerlTes North of Kawhia and the East Cape, elsewhere freshening westerlies to northerlies. Weather: Mainly fair at first but rain probable in North -Auckland; showers in many parts of Westland and about Foveaux Strait; later cloud and haze increasing generally. Following are the barometer, maximpm a'nd minimum thermometer, and rainfall readings recorded at the Government Observation Station by the Rotorua Tourist Department, for the 24 hours ended at 9.30 a.m. yesterday: — Barometer .... 30.184ins. Thermometer (max.) 53.9deg. Thermometer (min. in grass) 21.2deg. Rainfall .... Nil
