ORCHESTRAL SOCIETY

FIRST CONCERT TO-MORROW The Opotiki Orchestral Society, which was formed last year, will give its first concert for this season tomorrow. The success of the society since its inception has been phenomenal, and it now has 80 subscribing members. Its commencement was the formation of an orchestra by Mr. Ian Thompson to play at a local concert. Their music was appreciated so much that they were asked to play again. This was followed by the proposal than an orchestral society should be formed for the practice and performance of instrumental music.*The members of the committee are: Messrs. J. Sinclair (president), Bowlands (vice-president) Bunkall, I. Thompson (eonduetor), D. "Auld (secretary) , R. Semple (treasurer) , Edmunds (auditor), G. B. Murray (solicitor), and Potts, J. G. Murray, Wingate, D. Latour and Miss L. Gordon.
