PROFESSOR PICCARD PLANS TWO FURTHER FLIGHTS

LONDON, Tuesday. The Times' Brussels correspondent states that Professor Piccard, the aeronautist, will make a second ascent to the stratosphere at Zurich in the middle of June. If successful he will go to the Hudson Bay region and make a third ascent to study the aurora cosmic ray. On May 27, 1930, Professor Auguste Piccard and Herr Kipfer aseended from Augsberg, Bavaria, in a hermetically-sealed cylinder attaehed to a huge balloon. After 17 hours in the air, reaching a height of nearly 10 miles, they landed safely on a glacier in the Oetz Mountains by the Austro-Italian frontier, having gained valuable knowledge regarding the air.
