— By Telegraph — Copyright).
LONDON, Tuesday. In a 10-round contest at White City, Gains, 14.4, outpointed Carnera, 19.2. j There were 60,000 spectators. I The first round was even. Carnera appeared restrained, but he woke up in the second until Gains managed a beautiful right to the jaw. Carnera became angry as the coloured man's "quickness made him miss-hit often. The third round wa salso Gains' who was rapidly winning confidence, though he received some punishment in the fifth round. The Italian forced matters in the sixth and seventh, but Gains had never before boxed so well. His generalship was obviously superior to Carnera's. The latter was a very puzzled man. When the last round opened Gains chased him round the ring and landed telling blows on the jaw. Carnera retaliated with heavy punishment, but he could not knoek out his opponent. Before the announcer climbed into the ring the vast crowd leaped to its feet and acelaimed Gains the winner. Carnera, who apparently was unscathed, stood bewildered.
