RIFLE SHOOTING

SELF-HANDICAP NIGHT MEN'S WEEKLY SHOOT The weekly shoot of the Rotorua Miniature Rifle Club was held at the Drill Hall on Monday, 56 members taking part. This being an off night, a selfhandicap eompetition was arranged. This eompetition shows the members that the handicappers job is not an, easy one. The eompetition proved very interesting. Five members over estimated the handicap they should receive, three members tied with the highest. score off the rifle, and four members were lucky enough to give themselves the correct handicap to make their scores up to the possible 70. Competitors who over estimated their handicap were: F. Briggs, handicap 20, score off rifle 58; 78; J. Shiels, 17, 58, 75; F. Stewart, 10, 64, 74; H. Montague 10, 64, 74; H. Winslade 6, 65, 71. Competitors who estimated the correct handicap were. D. Gardner handicap 17, score off rifle 53, 70; R. Norman 12, 58, 70; E. C. Adolph 5, 65. 70; W. Hay 15, 55, 70. These will shoot off foi' first and second prizes with handicaps. Competitors who tied with the highest score off the rifle were: E. C. Adolph 65, H. Hardcastle 65, H. Winslade 65. These competitors will shoot off for the first and second prizes for highest score off the rifle. The following is the list of those who obtained 50 or over: — E. C. Adolph 65, H. Hardcastle 65, H. Winslade 65, H. Montague 64, F. Stewart 64, W. Donaldson 62, W. Bates 61, H. Whitley 60, W. Winslade 60; W. Beamish 59, T. McElroy 59, J. Shields 58, T. Snow 58, R. Normap 58, F. Briggs 58, W. Beazley 57, W. Merriman 56, W| Hay 55, S. Walker 53, R. Gardner 53, E. T. Johnson 52, K. Donaldson 51, G. Daubney 50, B. Marrell 50, R. Reid 50. At the conclusion of the eompetition, several members fired practice shoots and some excellent scores were put on by Messrs. Beasley (68), R. Reed (67), Hollis (63), T. McElroy (64).
