THE WEATHER
The Government meteorologist issued the following weather report and furecast last nrght: — General Situation: The anticyclone over New Zealand has been losing its intensity and a depression appears to have developed to the 'northward; barometers have commenced to afll over eastern Australia. Forecast: Winds, easterly to northeasterly north of New Plymouth and Napier, eisev/here variable with westerlies prevailing, moderate to strong generaliy and Teaching gaie force in the north. Weather: Still fair in most districts, but becoming unsettled in the Auckla'nd province with rain develop- # ing, some showers also in the far south and in parts of Westland. Following are the barometer, maximum a'nd minimum thermometer, and rainfall readings recorded at the Gov- 1 ernment Observation Station by the Rotorua Tourist Department, for the 24 hours ended at 9.30 a.m. yesterday: — Barometer 30.451ins. Thermometer (max.) 55,2deg. Thermometer (min. on grass) 23.0deg. Rainfall Nil
