NAPOLEON'S DESK

USED IN TALLNESS. ; What is probably the most valuable_ set of "props" ever used in a motion picture will soon be seen in "Arsene Lupin," which presents Joh i and Lionel Barrymore in their first appearance together on the screen. Rare and antique furniture and paintings worth fortunes were used in the sets representing an old French chateau in the new Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer production. Among the an-

tiques is a deslc of hird's-eye maple with- carved hronze fittings, at which Napoleon Bonaparte once sat. It is so valuable that it is kept on a wheeled platform when not in use, rather than being wheeled o,n its own casters. Ancient Italian carved furniture, cabinets, consoles and an old clock are other pieces of rare furniture in the great set, and in the gallery are paintings representing the world's greatest artists.

Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer has acquired the motion picture rights to "The Claw," Henry Bernstein's melodrama. "The Claw" was produced by Arthur Hopkins in October, 1921, at the Broadhurst Theatre. Lionel Barrymore, Irene Fenwick (Mrs. Barrymore)- and Charles Kennedy were in the stage cast. No announcements have been made as to cast or director. Bernstein is the author of ',Mele" "The Thief," "The Secret" and other plays. * & :H One can't always tell by the way an actor plays a part. Walter Huston is playing- one of the most convincing "drunk" roles ever seen on the screen in "The Wet Parade" at the M-G-M studios. Huston has been a teetotaler all his life.
