SEQUEL TO ARREST OF : BURGLAR AT . alfriston FOUR YOUTHS SENTENCED

AUCKLAND, Thursday. A seauel to the arrest of a young burglar in a store at Alfriston was the appearance in the Police Court of four youths, Horace Ivan Collard (17), John Jack Fleet (17), "Harry Frank Weaver ■ (20), and Douglas Nicholas Arnold (17), all charged vydth unlawfully converting at least two cars, and some with more. It was stated that the cars had been used for joy-riding and abandoned in various places. The Magistrate, Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., refused to entertain pleas for leniency for the youths, who, the police stated, all eome of respectable families. They were sentenced to six months' imprisonment at Waikeria. All except Weaver pleaded guilty to attempting to break and enter the Alfriston store, and were committed for sentenee. Weaver pleaded not guilty and was committed for trial.
