GRAND THEATRE

TO-NIGHT Gay Yienna striving bravely to make light of the terrifie strain and heartache of conflict serves as the opening setting of "Heartbreak.'* Fox drama starring Charles Farrell and Madge Evans, "now playing at the Grand Theatre. In the formal gardens of Count Walden, where Farrell, as a handsome young American diplomat meets and falls in love with Madge Evans, an Austrian countess, a charity fete for the benefit of disabled heroes is in porgress as the picture opens. Under the vari-colored lights are fortune-telling booths, Punch and Judy shows, a gypsy band in their colorful native dress, strolling Austrian and Prussian officers with beautiful Viennese companions, and everywhere a forced gaiety and laughter meant to conceal the pain in their hearts, that they cannot quiet. Out of this setting there develops a l'omance stronger than the ties of friendship and the bonds of duty, enveloping four lives and resulting in heartbreak that effects every one of them. "Heartbreak" is the screen version of Llewellyn Hughes's dramatic original story, and features Paul Cavanagh, John Arledge, Claude King and John St. Polis in its brilliant supporting cast. Alfred L. Werlcer directed this romance with an international setting.
