THE WEATHER
The Government meteoroiogist issued the following weather report and fcrrecast last night: — General Situation: A deep depression passed across the Dominion last "night and the barometer ig rising; an intense anticyclo'ne still covers the Tasman Sea. Forecast: Winds, strong southwesterlies prevailing, but teaching gale force at times. Weather: Further cold and squaily conditions; some heavy showers at times in most districts, with hail in mqny places; snow in parts of Canterbury and the southern provinces and some severe frosts; improving gradually to-morrow. Following are the barometer, maximum a'nd minimum thermometer, and rainfall readings recorded at the Government Observation Statjon by the Rotorua Tourist -Department, for the 2} hours ended at 9.30 a.m. yesterday: — Barometer 29.582in. Thermometer (max.) 55.3deg. Thefmometer (min. on grass) 38.2deg. Rainfall .... 0.04ins.
