The Government meteorologlst issuod the following weather report and f0recast last night: — General Situation; A depression has bee'n crossing the South Island in front of an extensive anticyclone situated to the westward. Forecast: Winds, moderate to strong south-westerlies, of gaie force in piaces in .and South of Cook Strait. Weather: Cold and changeable, with showers in mbst districts; some snow on the ranges; later, however, a'n improvment setting in ' from the westward. Following are the barometer, maximum a'nd minimurti thermometer, and rainfall readings recorded at the Government Observation Station by the' Rotorua Tourist Department, for the 24 hours ended at 9.30 a.m. yesterday: — Barometer 29.609ins. Thermometer max.) 56.8deg. Thermometer (min. o'n grass) 42.6deg. Rainfall .... 0.64ins.
