captain reports mysterious sounding of fire alarms no one left on ship

Rec. May 23, 7 p.m. PARIS, Monday. Captain Vicq, cornmander of the Georges Philippar, in a supplementary report on the fire on the liner, declared that the electric alarm communicating the billiard room mysberiously sounded, the first time eight days before the dsaster, and the second time half an hpur before the fire occurred Officers immediately inspected the bullion on both occacions and found no signs of its having been tampered with. Captain Vicq adds that some of the fire-fighting appliances curiously proved empty when the Ara started. Captain Vicq inspected all the first end second-class cabins before leaving the ship and found nobody. He spent the whole morning superintending the rescue of survivors.
