N.Z. DELEGATION

("Post" Special Commissioner) .

EARLY ANN OUNCEMENT OF " s PERSObTNEL BY ' ' CABINET DATA BEING GOLLECTED

WELLINGTON, Wednesday. One of the most important matters i to he decided by the New Zealand Government in tbe near future is the j personnel of the New Zealand dele- j gation to the Empire Economic Con- ! ference at Ottawa. I The delegatiori will have to leave I New Zealand in fivs or six 'weeks and it is expected that an early announcement' will ~be ma'dei . To some extent formulation" of New Zeal'and's plans for Ottawa has been delayed owing to the non-arrival of the Conference agenda and the Government is still somewhat in the dark as to'the gubjects that will come up for discussion.' It is' not yejt definitely known whether representatives will be called upon to discuss inonetary and currency prohlems, although the Government assumes that the British Government will he anxious to have a general discussion on these prohlems. ' In the meantime, the Government is obtaining the views of various interests on a variety of problems in order that tbe delegation may be well armed. Representatives of the Fruit Control Board are meeting members of Cabinet this afternoon and to-mor-row reprasentations will be heard from the New Zealand Farmers' Union, Dominion executiye of which is at present in conference in Wellington. Although there is general agreement that the Ottawa Conference | will be of outstanding importance, there appears to be a feeling in oflicial circles that some sections of the community are showing signs of placing far too much reliance on the conference as a way^ out of their present difficulties. It is believed that the decisions reached at Ottawa will have a beneficial effect in the long run, hut those in close touch with the position hold that it may be some time before these benefits are fully felt.
