Forestry Roads In conneetion with a reference to the construction of forestry roads contained in an article on Galatea estate in yesterday' s issue, the Forestry Department states that all roads constructed through its plantations vary in width from 16 feet to 24 feet. Impounded Game An interesting exhibit in a local butcher's freezer at the present time is an array of nearly 100 grey duck, teal and swan, and a number of native pigeons and tnis. But this array of f eathered game is allegedly not _a legitimate trophy of the chase — it is being held as evidence to be produced in two poaching cases which will shortly be bronght before the eourt at Rotorua and Whakatane. In one case, the duck and swan were imponnded by a ranger from a party which allegedly spent a happy day shooting in a game sanctuary after being warned that it was a protected area, while in the other, the tuis and pigeons— mostly half grown birds — were found in the possession of three men who allegedly had been shooting them in one of the bush areas near Rotorua. Work on Blue Baths Only 400 yards of concreting have now to be laid to complete the two end wings of the main Blue Baths, and all that will then remain to be constructed is the two storey front portion of the building, which will include the tearooms, lounge, kitchens, and store houses. At present 24 men are working on the job, but pending a definite decision by the Government regarding the allocation for the work, progress is necessarily restrleted. It is understood that the plans have been slightly amended by the Government arehitect, but it is not anticipated that any definite decision regarding the finance avail, able will be made until after the pro"jected visit of the Minister for Tourist and Health Resorts, the Hon. Adam Hamilton, at the end of the month.
