MUNICIPAL BAND
ANNUAL MEETING AND ELECTION OF OFFICERS. SATISFACTORY YEAR. The fourth annual meeting of the Rotorua Municipal Band was held at the band-room on Friday night, Mr F. C. Davidson presiding. The election of officers resulted: - Bandmaster, Mr. H. Chrstenson; band sergeant, Mr. H. Cater; band corporal, Mr. E. Wrigley; treasurer, Mr. G. Lacey, librarian; Mr. E. Wrigley, secretary, Mr. E. Tasker; committee Messrs. J. Dixon, F. C. Davidson, Bowden and H. Hinton; delegates to borough council committee, Messrs E. Tregilgas, H. Hinton, F. C. Davidson and E. Tasker. A unanimous vote of appreciation was accorded the conductor, Mr. Tregilgas, for his exeellent work during the term of his appointment, and his untiring efforts to improve the standard of the band. A vote of thanks was also accorded Mr. A. J. Chote for donations of sheet music to the band. The annual report revealed a successful year's working both in regard to the improvement in the standard of playing and on the financial side. The band had held 74 practice performances and had made 45 public appearances. The average attendance of members had been 95 per cent headed by Brandsmen Wrigley and Jarlow, who had attended on every occasion. Eight members had resigned during the year and seven new members had been elected, leaving a total membership of 26. In concluding the report, the committee expressed the hope that the members would continue to add their enthusiastic support and assist the conductor in still further improving the general musical standards. The report and balance sheet were adopted.
