STRIKING TRAMWAYMEN SENTENCED TO PRISON

CRISTCHURCH, Friday. As a result of the tramway strike disturbances three ex-tramwaymen were eharged this morning with usirig violence toward a loyal worker, who was pulled off his bicycle and knocked about last Friday. Ernest George Ellis (43), exmotorman, who was concerned in two charges, was sentenced to six months' hard labour, and George Albert Knowles (36), ex-conductoi', three months' hard labour, The eharge against the third man was dismissed.
