INFORMATIVE ADDRESS BY DR. H. BERTRAM. "• Mrs. H. Bertram prseided over a large gathering of mothers at a meeting of the League of Mothers in the Methodist school room on Friday last. After devotional exercises, the minutes were read hy the sacretary, Mrs. H. H. Davis. Mrs. Green then delighted her listeners with two pianoforte solos. An address ,by Dr. Bertram on "Disease" piwed a fund. of interesting and helpful information to all those present. The doctor laid particular stress on the. point that. it should be the endeavour , of every parent to give 'each ; . young lif e a healthy start, and so huild up a heal- 1 thy nation, fitted in every way to fight against the ravages of disease. In thanking the speaker for his most iliuminating address, Mrs. W. H. Speer, one of. the viee-presidents of the league, , said she felt sure that all present had appreciated to the full the doctor's lecture. , . , Tea was served by Mesdames Beamsley, Butt, Stallard, Oakes, Kings-. land, Calver and Phipps, who actei as hostesses for the- afternoon, after which the meetirig closed with the 'singiiig of a well known hymn.
