'It was stated officially at Victoria : V;"" Square this evening that a ballot taken among relief workers in Christchurch disclosed that the majority was in favour of direct action against the new rates of relief wages, and that the men on relief work would strike immediately. No objection would be raised to any men who wished finishing this week's work. Of the 2000 votes cast, 1700 were in favour of a strike.
