— By Telegraph — Copyrlght).

NEW YORK, Tuesday. A leading article in the New York Evening Post entitled 'A Demagogue Defeated," attacks Mr. J. T. Lang, the Premier of New South Wales, for default in connection with foreign loans, and praises the Common-' wealth Government's action in meeting the payments. The newspaper characterises Mr. Lang as a demagogue of a militant type, and after reviewing the case, concludes: ''The issue. developCd into one of State rights. There has been secession talk, much like that preceding our Civil War. Mr. Lang has now surrendered and turned over the taxation office keys.
