An illustration of strict economy was shown to a Southland Times reporter the other day. It took the form of an envelope which bore no less than eight frankings. Instead of its being carelessly opened on being received, it was painstakingly unsealed to be ready for use again, a little more gum being all that was required to make it serviceable.
