UNLIGHTED CAR
ACTION AGAINST OLD DILAPIDATED VEHICLES. "I submit, sir, that it is time that something was done to prevent the sale of these old, dilapidated vehicles," said Senior-Sergt. Carroll in the Rotorua Magistrate's Court yesterday, when outlining a case against a Maori who pleaded guilty to driving an old car, without lights, and precipitating a collision. The defendant was Whare H. Nikora, who was charged on two counts with driving a car without lights and with driving on the incorrect side of the road. The Senior-Sergt. stated that the case arose out of a collision which occurred on the Taupo Road about the 9-mile peg. Nikora had been ^ving an old car which he had borrowe^ from another native, land apparently had set out without attempting 'to ascertain whether the car was in running order and the lights were working.
