early morning burglary of opotiki shop premises JEWELLERY STOLEN

OPOTIKI, Monday. A case of window smashing occurred here at 3.20 this morning, when the plate-glass window of Semple's stationery, fancy goods and jewellery shop was broken with a eoncrete block, and watches valued at £20 were stolen. The sound of breaking glass was heard by a local resident, who also saw the window-smasher making off with the goods. The man appeared to he well dressed. Blood stains were found on the glass, but no arrest has so far been made by the police, who are investigating.
