MAGAZINE BROKEN OPEN * AND GELIGNITE ' REMOVED THEFT AT NGONGOTAHA Late on Saturday night or early yesterday morning, an explosives magazine at Ngongotaha was brokexi open and a large quanity of gelignite, approximately 351bs in weight, was stolen. The magazine is the property of the Rotorua Borough Council and was leased hy it to quarry contractors engaged at Ngongotaha. The door of the magazine was secured by an exceptionally strong lock, but this was foreed off by means of a erowbar or some similar instrument. The amount of explosive removed represents only a small proportion of the total quanity stored in the magazine. . The amount stolen is valued at approximately £3.
