Rec. May 6, 7.5 p.m. SYDNEY, Friday. Mr. J. S. "Jock" Garden, of the Sydney Trades Hall Council, aiid also a city alderman, informed detectives that he had b'een violently assaulted by a gafig of men last night. He- had receive.d several severe blows on the head, face ahd neck. His son heard a scuffle and released the dog, which put the whole gang to flight, and they disappeared in a motor car. Mr. Garden stateS that f oiif men were in evening dress. The men awakened him on the pretext that suspicious charactbrs were lurking behind the houfee.
