MINIMUM TO BE RAISED TO SIX YEARS CLAUSE IN FINANCE BltL
WELLINGTON, Monday. A proposal to raise the minimum age of admission to primary schools from five to six years will he the subject of a clause in the Finance Bill which will he introduced in the House of Representatives to-morrow or Wednesday. It was at first *thought that this reeommendation of the National Expenditure Commission could be effected by regulation, but it is now. found that legislation is necessary. The Commission, in its report, stat^ ed that by raising the school age £11,000 annually could be saved and expressed the opinion that the adoption of the proposal would have no adverse effect on children.
