PROGRESSIVE TOURNAMENT MARKS END OF SEASON PRESENTATION OF TROPIIIES The closing day of the Rotorua Croquet Club was held at the Government Gardens on Saturday afternoon. A progressive tournament occupied the greater portion of the afternoon and all the lawns were engaged by the players. Notwithstanding the threatening weather, the tournament programme was completed. At the close of the play all present adjourned to the kiosk for afternoon tea, after which prizes won during the season were presented. Before presenting the trophies, the president, Mrs. J. W. Blencowe, made a few remarks relevant to the activities of the past season, and thdn called upon Mrs. W. L. Richards, as the champion of the club, to accept the championship cup. Mrs. C. H. Worthington the runner-up received a trophy. The following are the prizewinners for the season: — Handicap Singles. — Mrs. W. W. P. Hall, 1; Mrs. C. H. Worthington, 2. Handicap Doubles: — Mrs. Hesketh and Mrs. Cottrell, 1; Mrs. W. W. P. Hall and Mrs. M. Manson, 2. Second Grade A: — Mrs. Parata. C Grade Championship: — Mrs. W. Speer. .Consolation: — Mrs. F. W. Moorhouse. Mrs. Blencowe then presented the prizes won during the afternoon and explained the that a special prize had been donated by Mrs. C. H. Clinkard for the player who gained the highest points irrespective of grade, the winner being Mrs. W. T. Pakes. Other prizes presented by Mrs. Hall, Mrs Herd and Mrs. Halkett, were won by Mrs. Worthington, Mrs. C. Lloyd and Mrs. Hesketh. The afternoon closed with a hearty vote of thanks to the president, which was proposed by Mrs. W. L. Richards and earried by acclamation.
