THE WEATHER
The Government meteorologist issued the followihg weather report and forecast last night: — General Situation: A cyclone Is still centred East of East Cape, but there is still a deep and very extensive anticyclone moving on to New Zealand, its centre being to the South, Forecast: Winds, southerly to south easterly, strong generally and in places of gale force. Weather: Fair on the west coast of the South Island, elsewhere still du(I, cold and showery, but improving gradually in the western districts. Foliowing are the barometer, rrtakimum a'nd minimum thermometer, and rainfall readings recorded at the Government Observation Station by the Rotorua Tourist Department, for the 24 hours ended at 9.30 a.m. yesterday: — •«*- Barometer 29.555ins. Thermometer (max.) 64.4deg. Thermometer (min. on grass) 51.3deg. —Rainfall 0.44ins.
