REVIEW DISCLOSES MARKED PROGRESS LAST SEASON FIRST MATCHES MAY 14 The annual meeting of the Roto- | rua Basketball Association was held on Tuesday evening at the Dolly Varden Tea Rooms. Mr. E. G. Guj presided over a record attendance of members. The apjiual report disclosed that the 1930-31 season had been an exceptionally successful one, and marked further progress of the game in the Rotorua district. The championship competition, in which 14 teams took part, was won by the Kowhai team. During the season, also, a visit was received from, the Auckland Training College team, and this visit was later returned by a Rotorua representative team, which journeyed to Auckland. Rotorua was successful in winning both games. The game was started in Reporoa, and a visit there was paid'by a Rotorua team. It is hoped that the coming season will see still further extension. The matter of providing a suitable practice ground was stated to hej one of urgeney, and the report stat-i ed that until this disability could be solved, the game wonld be unduly handicapped. j During the season three very suc-j cessful dances were held.
