THE WEATHER
The Government meteorologist issued the following weather report and forecast last night: — General Situation: A 'northern cyclone has been moving in a southeriy direction and is now centred near Cape Maria van Diemen; anothep slight westerly depression is crpssing the southern portio'n of the Dominion. Forecast: Winds, north-easterly to south-westerly about and north of Cook Strait; strong to gale force and gradually becoming more southerly,; elsewhere southerlies prevailing and fresheiiing. Weather; Mainly fair, with aomes scattered showers in the sputherri parts of the South Island; elsewhere dull and misty with rai'n; heavy falls likely from Nelson and Maiborough northward, with some flooding in the Auckland and Hawke's Bay provinces temperatures becoming colder. Following are the barometer, maximum a'nd minimum thermometer, and rainfall readings recorded at the Government Observation Statipn by ■^:he Rotorua Tourist Department, for the 24 hours^ended at 9.30 a.m. yesterday: — j .
