Collarbone Broken During a football practiee at the Rotorua High School on. Tuesday afternoon, a pupil of the school, J. S. Alexander, was unfortunate enough to break his collarbone. He was ixnmediately removed by car to Dr. W. S. Wallis's surgery in Hinemoa Street, where he received hiedical attention. R.S.A. Annual Meeting. The annual meeting of the Rotorua Returned Soldiers' Association was held last night in the Citizens' Club rooms. Major R. I. Dansey presided. A full report of the proceedings will be published in to-morrow's issue. MPoppy Day" Collection The annual "Poppy Day" collection in the Rotorua District on Saturday last resulted in the sum of £28 16 6 heing raised for the Returned Soldiers' Association. This amount, however, does not include receipts from Taupo and Mamaku, which are not yet to hand. The result of the collection is eonsidered satisfaetory in view of the present conditions. The money will be used for alleviating distress among ex-servicemen. W.E.A. "Opera Evening." The Rotorua study group of the Workers' Educatmnal Association will commence the 1932 winter season tonight with an opera evening at the Citizen's Club rooms, commencing at 7.30 p.m. A full attendance of members is expected and intending members and others interested are cordially invited to be present. Realising that the- coming winter is going to be a hard one for financial reasons, a special offer of cheaper fuel is being made hy C. H. Macdonald, wood and coal dealer. Mr. Macdonald quotes 16s eash and 19s hooked against the previous price of 22s for a ton of rata logs, and 12s cash and 14s hooked, against 14s, for the same quantity of Taua. These prices have been especially readjusted to meet the' times and Mr. Macdonald stakes his reputation on the quality of the fuel. He also quotes the best manuka at 18s a ton. He is also agent for Renown coal, a clean and inexpensive firing*
