LADIES' HOCKEY

DRAW FOR FIRST ROUND OF ROBERTSON CUP MATCHES EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETS An executive committee meeting of the Rotorua Ladies' Hockey Association was held on Monday evening to finalise arrangements for. the eommencement of the hockey season on Saturday next, April 30. The president, Miss K. Carnachan, presided over a fair attendance. Mrs. Greenland was elected a member of the executive committee. A letter was received from the Te Puke Club stating their intention of again affiliating with the Rotorua Association, and appointing Mr. A. C. Watts as their delegate. A request from the Te Puke men's club for permission to play a Rotorua rnen's team at Rotorua during the Aard Cup tourney, on June 3, was accepted. The secretary reported that entries had been received from the following clubs: Taniwha, Shamrocks, Whippets, Arawa, Mourea, and Mamaku. No advice had been received from Ngongotaha and Putaruru had written stating their difficulty in securing a senior team, and advising that it was hoped to field a junior side. Sufficient support not being forthcoming, it was decided that no action cquld be taken at present toward forming a junior grade. The draw for the first round of the Robertson cup games, to commence on Saturday, April 30, resulted as f ollows : — • Taniwha v. Shamrocks, 3 p.m. Whippets v. Arawa, 3 p.m. Mourea v. Mamaku, 2 p.m. All games will be 'played on the Government Grounds. Messrs. C. Mitchell, A. C. Watts, and C. J. Casey, were appointed a postponement committee. In the event of postponement of matches being found necessary, an endeavour will be made to post notice of same at the "Morning .Post" office by noon on the Saturday concerned. A letter from the headmaster of the Rotorua High Schol (Mr. W. G. Harwood) advising the imposibility of forming a school team, was received with regret. The Government Grounds will be available for practice purposes this &fternoon, when the Whippet Club members will attend for their first try-out of the season.
