Team Spirit of Rugby

"The game of Rugby football is essentially a team game, and individualism must be subordinated for the benefit of the team and team work must, and is, the dorninating feature of our game," said the president of the New Zealand Rugby Union, Mr. S. S. Dean, in addressing the annual meeting of the delegates in Wellington. "The lessons to be learned from our association with the game are invaluable, and help us all to play the game of life in a more manly and sporting spirit. Modesty in success and generosity in defeat are two attributes which cannot he. stressed too greatly. To live onr lives as we play the games on the field should be the aim of all, and if the lessons learned on the playing fields are carried into our every-day life how much better we are all for the tuition. Play the game, and play it fairly is the motto that cannot be too strongly urged at all times." '
