The Government roeteorologlst Is* sued the following weather report and forecast last night: — General Situation: An anticyclone has been crossing New Zealand tb-day and an exte'nsive tropical disturbance has been iocated to the North of Ndr^ foik lsland, while the depression oveh the southern Tasman Sea has been losing its intensity. Forecast: Winds, between northeasterly and north-westerly prevatling freshening generally and beconiing strong to squally in the far North. Weather: Fine generally at fifst with cioud and haze gradually increasing; rain developing in the northbrn and eastern districts of the North lsland and also on the West Coast of the South lsland; some heavy falis probable in the Auckland province. Following are the barometer, maximum and mi'nimum thermometejp- and rainfall readings re"cordbd at the Government Gbservatiori' Station by the Rotorua Tourist Department, for ^ the 24 hours ended at 9.30' a.m. yesterday: — Barometer 30.1,72ins.
