THREE POLICEMEN KILLED IN DEFENCE OF FRENCH POST OFFICE ONE BANDIT SHOT

PARIS, Saturday. Three police inspectors- were killed and a raider named Mancini was wounded in a desperate revolver battle in a suburban post office at Marseilles, wbere the police were posted to repel an expected raid. The postmistress, who was alarmed at the appearance of four men, summoned the police, who were hiding in an adjacent room. The raiders received them with a volley, killing one and fatally wounding the others. One of the inspectors, despite his wounds, intercepted Mancini. The other gunmen escaped in a stolen car.
