Mr. A. H. Foggin presided over a large attendance. Discussing the question of baslcetball which was taken as the first business, it was stated that the Rotorua and Whaka Primary Schools and the Convent would enter two teams each, and Ngongotaha one team. As a result of a discussion which occurred on the question of a height or class lirnit on players, it was decided to suhstitute a height limit of five feet for the practice of limiting the participation of girls up to Standard IV., which obtairied last year. Two rounds of matches are to be played, the games commencing at the end of the first week after the reassembling of the schools following the May holidays. A suggestion that separate referees take half of each match was defeated, a motion, ihoved by Mr. McCowan (Whaka) that one referee, to be arranged by the school visited. take the match, being carrieij. Miss H. Hillcoat was appointed secretary of the basketbali committee. Rugby Football Proceeding to the discussion of matters affecting the school Rugby football competitions, the chairman expressed regret at the unavoidable absence of Mr. B. M. Green, headmaster of the Rotorua Primary School, a motion of sympathy with him in his illness, and expressing the hope for his speedy recovery, being passed by those present. ) As in previous years, the age limit of players was fixed at seven stone, but in order to provide games for boys over this weight it was decided that where a team had a bye, these boys would be included in a side to play a friendly match against some other such team. Mr. Windler advised the meeting that an amount of four pounds was held by the Rotorua Rugby Union for the encouragement of school football, and it was decided that to assist the Mamaku and Ngongotaha Schools toward travelling expenses, this amount would be allocated to these two schools in the proportion of two-thirds and one-third, respectively. The small size ball used last season having proved unsatisfactory, arrangements were made to secure a supply of a larger ball similar to one lcindly donated by a parent to the Rotorua School and exhihited at the meeting. In common with the school basketbali, the Rugby season will commence after the May holidays, Mr. Windler agreeing to approach the Rugby Referees' Association for referees to control the games.
