The Government meteorologist Is-^ sued the following weather report and forecast last night: — General Situation: A wedge of high pressure is crossing New Zealand today, but another rather irttense depression is moving over the Tasman Sea. Forecast: Winds westerfy, moder, ate to stro'ng, squaily at times and backing to southerly after 24 to 36 hours, , Weather: Mainly fair at first in the eastern provinces, but - chahgeable generdlly, with rain at times in western and far southern distj-icts. Following are the barometer, mpxii mum and m'fnimum thermometfer and rainfall readings re'corded at the Govi ernment Observation Station by the Rotorua Tourist Department, fop the 24 hours ended at 9.30 a.m. yesterday: — — Barometer 29.912ins.
