GRAND THEATRE
TO-NIGHT What would you do if you had fallen desperately in love with the one you considered the most gloriously beautiful woman in the world — and then learned that she was the mistress of your employer? This is the situation which confronts Lew Ayres in Universal's startiing love drama, "Up For Murder," now at the Grand Theatre. The woman is the society editor of a great metropolitan newspaper and Lew, cub reporter, is transported with new-found happiness — until he learns the sordid truth. From this point the story is one of the most absorbing description, and is said to alford this rising young star the greatest opportunity of his career to deliver a characterisation of power and intensity. The object of Lew's affections in "Up For Murder" is Genevieve Tobin, recruited only a year ago from the New York stage, while other important roles in the production are enacted by Richard Tucker, Frank McHugh, Dorothy Peterson and Fred- : eric Burt. The picture was directed by Monta Bell, who has depicted in a convincing manner the newspaper background in which he has spent many years of his life, not only as a reporter, but also as editor and publisher of the Washington, D.C., "Herald."
