SMEARED WITH ACID

WOMEN FOUND MURDERED IN BLAZING CAR FACES BOTH DISFIGURED CHICAGO. Two women, with their faces disfigured by an acid, were found murdered in a blazing motor car alongside the roadway between St. Paul and Chicago. They had registered in an hotel at St. Paul's as Marjorie and Margaret Perrie, of Chicago, and had started for home in their car. The police believe that they were the victims of a racketeering or narcotic gang fight. They must have been overtaken by another car and forced off the pavement into the deep snow. One woman had jumped out and tried to run away, but was shot in the back and dragged back into the car. An empty bottle, which had contained acid, showed how their faces had been disfigured before the killers showered their bodies with gasoline, and applied a torch.
