FOREIGN BIBLE SOCIETY

Miss Young, of Auckland, organ:sing secretary of the British Foreign Bible Society, spent the weekend in Rotorua, and addressed a meeting of workers and sympathisers in connection with the society's work, on Monday afternoon in the Methodist school room. The Rev. A. C. Randerson presided. During the course of her remarks Miss Young stated that the society had issued for the year ended March, 1932, 11,888,226 volumes of the Scriptures, the number 'of languages employed being 644. Colporteurs, who act as distributors number 1130, and expenditure amounted to £406,365. The society supplies versions of the Scriptures in 190 languages for the Church of England missions, in 159 languages for the Presbyterian, and 116 languages for Methodist missions and also a great many to the Baptist and undenominational missions. Fourteen new languages had been , added during the year and it was now doubtful if any great number of peo-

It was announced thal a campaign to raise funds for the support of this great work would begin about May 1, and a number oi collectors were appointed. During her stay in Rotorua, Miss Young was the guest of the Rev. F. H. and Mrs Spencer, of Ranolf Street.
