SCOTT READY TO START ON FLIGHT TO AUSTRALIA ! FROM ENGLAND | COMPACT WITH MOLLISON

— By Telegraph— Copyrlght) .

LONDON, Monday. The airman, Mr. C. W. Scott, in an interview at Lympne, said the 'weather forecast was that "conditions would be good Jndefinitely, good off Australia shortly." "I do not want to start too early in the morning or to get too far south before dawn," he said. "I will then havd three days' good moon, which is a great help. I am using the same machine in which I flew from Austra- I lia last year. I will carry 100 gallons of petrol, whiclil will give me a range of 1700 miles." Asked if he would keep his bargain with Mr. J. A. Mollison, he said: "Certainly: I had a message frorn Jimmy to-day, wishing me the best of luck." | Mr. Scott intends to try to beat Butler's record to Port Darwin in eight days. | Scott and Mollison made a bargain at Lympne last month that each would break a flying record and return to London and meet to celebrate by a dinner for two. The former intended to fly to Australia and the latter to the Cape.

Scott flew from Britain to Australia in April, 1931. It was announced that he intended to fly to Australia in his Gipsy Moth machine in an effort to win the record time for the flight. The record is at present held by Mr C. A. Butler, who, in October-Nov-ember, 1981, did the journey in 9 days 2 hours 29 minutes. . In November last year Mr. Mollison, who holds the record time for the flight from Australia to Britain, attempted a flight to Cape Town, but I he erashed in Upper Egypt and abandoned the trip. He has set up a record to the Cape since the pact was made with Scott.
